“Incredibly professional!” “A musical stand-out” “Best show at this Center I’ve seen all year” “WOW!”…and those were just some of the comments received after the Aventura Marketing Council’s (AMC) signature event held recently, the 6th annual Aventura Mall YOUNG STARS SHOWCASE presented by Mount Sinai Medical Center (YSS). A full house of over 300 people enjoyed a great evening of family entertainment, and some guests were returning for the sixth consecutive year.

The Aventura Marketing Council, serving as the community’s Chamber of Commerce for over 27 years, created this event six years ago, and produces it in lieu of an annual installation dinner. Proceeds from the show benefit the AMC Education Foundation which supports all their educational outreach programs. “We wanted to showcase our City and its beautiful Aventura Arts & Cultural Center while featuring some amazing young singers from throughout South Florida,” said Cliff Schulman, Chairman of both the AMC and the YSS.

Now in its sixth year of partnering with Creative Director Ran Oz, CooLAM Productions, and the superb team at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center, the theme for this year’s show was “Las Vegas”, and yes—there was glitz and glamor, feathers and showgirls—swirling around the amazingly talented Young Stars:

Francesca Alfano, 15, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”; Lucia Fernandez De Los Muros, 10, “L-O-V-E”; 9 year-old Brandon Goldberg, our little piano prodigy who entertained with a Sinatra/Billy Joel medley as well as playing for the entering crowd; Laura Granello, 14, Cher medley; Camryn Handler, 15, Marilyn Monroe medley; Preston Howell, 11, Elvis medley; Emily Kaufman, 11, “Wind Beneath my Wings”; Dominique Nino, 14, ABBA medley; Cassie Ortiz, 14, “Something’s Got a Hold of Me” and Zineb Phillips, 15, “Proud Mary”.

Dancers from Natalie Dance Academy came in full costume and Enrico Carducci, Circo Massimo Events, had his entire crew videotaping backstage as well as the entire show and interviews conducted by Oscar Llorente from Mount Sinai Medical Center.

The 2015 Emcee was international opera singer Rachal Solomon, who opened the show with “There’s No Business Like Show Business”. Rachal recorded her first crossover pop album, Volatile, with management company Bon Jovi Studios, and she also runs a vocal studio for future stars.

Title sponsor again this year was the Aventura Mall, and Yamila Garayzar, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Turnberry Associates, said, “Each year we are extremely proud to sponsor this outstanding community event that brings out entire families to the beautiful City of Aventura.”

Kathy San Pedro, Regional Director for AT&T Florida, another major sponsor, said “This was a true delight. The talent and dedication to craft these young adults demonstrate is remarkable. AT&T continues to be a proud sponsor and commends the Aventura Marketing Council for creating such a great evening of entertainment from our local youth. Bravo! “

Fourteen “Friends of the Young Stars” helped support the event: Lauren and Cliff Schulman; Aventura Mayor Enid and Steve Weisman; The Hon. Gloria and Herb Barker, Barker Animation Art Galleries, gave all the Young Stars an original Warner Brothers etching as well as a gift bag of holiday tree ornaments for all 300 guests.

The complimentary dessert reception following the show featured tantalizing desserts from BRIO Tuscan Grille, Captain Jim’s Seafood Restaurant, Edible Arrangements, Limoncello Italian Restaurant, Mo’s Bagels & Deli and Novecento 900. The Young Stars circulated amidst the crowd, happily receiving ‘high fives’ and compliments for their wonderful performances, and even signing autographs for fans! There’s no doubt that these Young Stars will be famous one day, and we can say, “We knew them when…..”
