Justice for all interested in “building business” prevailed at the Aventura Marketing Council’s first breakfast meeting of 2015 co-hosted by Association Law Group and Hotwire Communications/ Hotwire Business Solutions. The event featured North Dade Justice Center Judges Jason Dimitris, Carlos Guzman, Myriam Lehr and Caryn Canner Schwartz as well as Miami-Dade County Court Judge Spencer Multack; Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judges Nushin Sayfie, Samantha Ruiz Cohen and Circuit Court Judge Stan Blake – ruled “most entertaining and comedic emcee.”
Best wishes were expressed for North Dade Justice Center’s Associate Administrative Judge Linda Singer Stein and Judge Betty Capote, both of them recuperating from the flu.
AMC past Chair Bob Hollander of Brown & Brown Insurance of Florida presided on behalf of AMC Chair Cliff Schulman of Weiss, Serota, Helfman, welcoming guests gathered at Turnberry Isle Miami along with Association Law Group senior partner Ben Solomon; and Carl Lender, Vice President of Sales for Hotwire Communications.
When the gavel was passed to the judges, they presented evidence benefiting the community.
Judge Schwartz forewarned that in foreclosure cases, a renter can be named along with an owner as a co-defendant. Judge Lehr emphasized, “The North Dade Justice Center is a full-service courthouse. You can come here to get your driver’s license, a passport, applications for marriage licenses or manage traffic tickets. We also have a Domestic Violence Division that can help get restraining orders issued by a judge.” Judge Multack added victims of all types of violence can get injunctions at courthouses throughout Miami-Dade, where “judges and juries are working to protect victims and their families.”
Criminal Court Judge Sayfie said initiatives are underway to establish electronic arrest and search warrants, saving police officers travel time.
Judge Guzman and Judge Dimitris concurred it’s important for clients to maintain open lines of communication with their lawyers to avoid unexpected outcomes or costly mistakes.
