Justice for all interested in “building business” prevailed at a recent Aventura Marketing Council breakfast meeting co-hosted by Association Law Group and Hotwire Communications/Hotwire Business Solutions. The event featured County Court judges from the North Dade Justice Center including Associate Administrative Judge Linda Singer Stein, Judge Myriam Lehr, Judge Carlos Guzman, Judge Charles Johnson and Judge Caryn Schwartz. Circuit Court Judge Lisa Walsh of the Dade County Courthouse and County Court Judge Rudy Ruiz of the Miami Beach Courthouse also presided along with Circuit Court Judge Stan Blake, who served as the emcee—sure to be voted the best comedian Emcee in town! His years of friendship with the panel of judges and knowledge about the judicial system gave him great material for his very funny, rapidfire comments that left the audience holding their sides in laughter.

When the gavel passed to Judge Schwartz, she warned the community to beware of nefarious companies acquiring condos from owners behind on payments or facing foreclosure. “They try to collect from new tenants without any intention of paying outstanding debts. But now, a new law permits condo associations to send a statutory notice informing them that payments must be made directly to the association if owners are in arrears.”
