2nd Annual YOUNG STARS SHOWCASE coming to Aventura Arts & Cultural Center, Dec. 4

Last December, the Aventura Marketing Council (AMC) created a new event, “AT&T YOUNG STARS SHOWCASE,” and it was an incredible success. This was no ordinary talent showcase for youngsters… this event caused ripples in the entertainment industry, not only for the amazing youngsters who sang, but for the top-calibre professionals involved in it, including international composer/singer Placido Domingo, Jr., triple Grammy Awardwinning record producer Juan Cristobal Losada, pianist Kiki Sanchez and musical director, Ran Oz of CooLAM Studios. Building on that success, the AMC launched into planning the 2nd Annual YOUNG STARS SHOWCASE scheduled for Sunday, December 4, 2011, 5 p.m., once again at the beautiful Aventura Arts & Cultural Center.

And what can you expect for this year’s YOUNG STARS SHOWCASE?

Let’s look back at last year’s showcase to know what to expect for this year’s event. Eleven amazingly talented youngsters took the stage at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center … the electricity in the air was palpable. First, recording star Chloe Dolandis and nationallyrecognized Emcee David Kiernan introduced Aventura Marketing Council Chairman Cliff Schulman who was surprised with a birthday serenade (a la Marilyn Monroe) by Dolandis. 22’ high banners flanked the stage recognizing major sponsors including the Aventura Marketing Council, AT&T, Warren Henry Automobile Group; CooLAM Dance Studio, The Chocolate Lounge/madmac, Aventura Arts & Cultural Center, Pati Vargas Entertainment, DS Xpress, All in 1 Productions and Aventura News.

Two stunning former Miss Florida USAs, Jessica Rafalowski and Megan Clementi, escorted the young singers on and offstage as the audience roared their approval with each and every performance (check out video on AMC website homepage: aventuramarketingcouncil.com or on Youtube: young stars showcase AT&T).

First up was 16-year old Josh Grosso, who ‘wowed’ the audience with his version of “Sway” accompanied by professional dancers from Ben Solmor Choreography. Josh returned after the intermission to sing an unforgettable “Hallelujah…” hauntingly beautiful. Then ten year-old Cameron Wheeler sang “I Surrender” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” …where did that little girl get that amazing voice? Cameron also had the opportunity to sing a duet with Placido Domingo, Jr, the beautiful “My Grown-Up Christmas List.” Next up was Serenity Roscoe singing “Bubbly,” followed by Hellen Rivas with a great “Conga.”

“Think of Me” and “Somos Novios/It’s Impossible” were performed magnificently by opera singers, 16-year-old Nicole Bequer and 17 year-old Michael Gonzalez, followed by “Candyman” and “At Last” sung by the very talented 15-year-old Valerie Vargas. Nick Merico, 14-year-old, then took the audience by storm as he sang “Faithfully” and “I Wanna Hold Your Hand.” Nick is now working with a producer of “American Idol” as well as a Latin record producer, both of whom will take him to stardom internationally (And you can say you ‘knew him when…!). Eleven year-old Julia Levy showed her powerful voice in “I’m Alive,” followed by ten-year-old Samuel Alexander who sang “It’s My Life” and showed us ‘how the pros do it’ as he played the piano and sang in the grand finale where all the performers joined in on the high-energy song, “Fame.”

“Unforgettable”… “fantastic”… “so professional”… “thoroughly enjoyable”… comments heard from last year’s YOUNG STARS SHOWCASE, and no doubt, will be heard once again with the 2nd Annual YOUNG STARS SHOWCASE.

Auditions will begin in September for this year’s event, and sponsorship opportunities are available.
