Academy of Hospitality and Tourism “Around the World Dinner” another great success

The Academy of Hospitality and Tourism recently held their 19th annual Around the World Dinner at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay to raise funds to help support scholarship programs and activities for students from Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

Chairman Ben Launerts worked with his Advisory Board to raise over $42, 000 with the support of their great industry partners, including Marriott Worldwide Business Councils South Florida, Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association, Johnson & Wales University, Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, Show Technology Inc. and MXM Managed by Marriott.

A special presentation was made by Maura Zhang and Steven Pollock representing Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) as they donated over $4,000 to help the cause.

Young Star singer Cameron Wheeler, 18, entertained the guests composed of hospitality and business leaders from throughout South Florida as they enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres prepared by hospitality students from John A. Ferguson Senior High and Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High.
