‘Always Ready, Always Prepared’ for U. S. Coast Guard ride

When Peter Caspari, Florida Outreach Director for the Dept. of Defense’s ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve) called the Aventura Marketing Council to nominate two local businesses who employ either Guard or Reservists, to ride aboard the USCGC Richard Etheridge, the ‘call to action’ was heard!

US Coast Guard Cutter Richard Etheridge, recently commissioned during a patriotic ceremony at Port Everglades, was named for a 19th century black man who was born a slave and became a hero as he commanded a crew of “surfmen” who saved nine people, including a 3-month old child, from a grounded schooner amidst raging waters.

Selected to take a ride aboard the cutter was Fernando Levy Hara, partner in mckafka Development Group and Gary Pyott, Florida President of The Continental Group. “This was a unique experience, “ said Levy Hara, “and we had the opportunity to learn more about the outstanding job that our U. S. Coast Guard does day in and day out to protect the people of this country.”
