With the purpose of showcasing South Florida’s cultural diversity, and promoting a cultural interchange between numerous “communities,” the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center/Sanford L. Ziff Campus, through its Bamachol Dance Program will present its 4th Annual Dancing With The World, International Folk Dance Festival.
Dancing With The World, which takes place on Sunday, March 9th, 5 p.m. at the North Miami Beach Performing Arts Center, will assemble a multitude of folk dance troupes, each showcasing their own cultural background, and promote the union between various ‘small communities’ throughout South Florida.
“This will be a beautiful show featuring the best international Folk Dance Troupes in South Florida,” explains Roger Weiger, the MAR-JCC’s Bamachol Dance Academy Director. “Among the participating groups we have: Brazil (Brazarte), USA (Live In Color), Panama (Ballet Folclorico Aires Panamenos) Spain (Baila Flamenco), Israel (Kulanu, Yachad & Hemshech), Venezuela (Venezuela Danza y Tambor), Greece (Olympus Group) and the Middle East (Dreams of Belly Dancing), etc.
It will be an incredible performance, showcasing the diversity of our South Florida community.”
Dancing With The World will encompass two age categories- Youth: ages 13-18, and Adult: ages 19-35 and is made possible by the generous donation of Perla Sultan, in honor of her grandchildren, and the support of Miami-Dade County Cultural Affairs.
