“Can the World Live with a Nuclear Iran?” was the theme of an Aventura Marketing Council luncheon recently hosted by Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center, Events by Premier and Executive National Bank. The event featured special guest speaker Ambassador Bradley Gordon, Director of Policy and Government Affairs for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) – working to ensure world security by ensuring American support and oversight remains strong.

Business and community leaders gathered at ATJC were welcomed by AMC Chair Cliff Schulman of Weiss, Serota, Helfman; ATJC Rabbi Jonathan Berkun, Board Chair William Landa, President Marcy Resnik and Executive Vice President Dr. Amir Baron; Steven Pollak of Events by Premier; Executive National Bank CEO Carlos Safie and Senior Vice President Felipe Larcada; AIPAC National Board member Dr. Barry Silverman and Florida Political Director Lauren Schulman.

“Over the years, ATJC has been a place where people have come to meet some of the most influential dignitaries, officials and decision makers of our time,” Rabbi Berkun said. “We’re honored to host Ambassador Gordon and thankful to AIPAC for continuing to remind us of the very special friendship between Israel and the United States – sharing values, beliefs and a commitment to democracy, freedom, peace in the Middle East and throughout the world.”

Amb. Gordon explained, “I was the Assistant Director of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, responsible for the prevention of nuclear weapons around the world. For a long period of time, Iran has had covert nuclear facilities they refused to identify or allow inspectors to visit.

“If Iran gets nuclear weapons, we’ll see a nuclear arms race in the Middle East; and the security of the international community will be jeopardized – Israel faces a particular threat. So right now, the U.S. and international community are invoking truly crippling sanctions on Iran in the hopes of convincing their government to come to the negotiations table and suspend their nuclear program. This is the challenge of our time – and we don’t have much time.”
