Children’s Holiday at Miami Dade College North Campus

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) North Campus (11380 NW 27th Avenue) will once again delight young ones with its annual Children’s Holiday at North, a wonderland of fun with exhibits; a Holiday Snow Village and a 12-foot mountain of snow where children will be able to slide down in tubes South Florida style; live performances on three stages with entertainment, which include a Polynesian revue featuring Lilo and Stitch with hula fire dancers, and Hawaiian dancers, Hip Hop Kidz, South Florida Youth Symphony, belly dancers, performances by Miami Classic Ballet, jazz bands and orchestras from various middle and high schools and so much more! Meet and Greet Santa Claus by his chimney, have your picture taken, and drop your letter in his mailbox.

Admission to the event, all rides and shows are free and open to the public, the Children’s Holiday at North takes place Saturday, December 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Santa and his elves will arrive in a helicopter at 11:15 a.m. The guest of honor and Mrs. Claus will ride on a horse-drawn carriage in a parade, which will feature five marching bands, characters such as Chuck E. Cheese, Bearemy from Build-A-Bear, Billy the Marlin, Ronald McDonald, McGruff, and many many more.

Other highlights include a Youth in Agriculture Pavilion sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) featuring wild animal shows, a petting zoo and games; an Arts and Crafts Pavilion; a Holiday Around the World Pavilion showcasing holiday customs and traditions celebrated in other countries; visit Elsie’s Greenshop and this elf will show you how to go green this holiday season from ornaments to holiday cards; and more than 50 exhibits from Zoo Miami, Jungle Island, the Florida Panthers Hockey Club, the Florida Marlins, the Miami Dolphins, the Miami Science Museum, the History Miami Museum, Build A Bear, Miami-Dade County Public Library System, and Chuck E. Cheese’s, just to name a few. Ponies, train rides, bounce houses, rock climbing walls. Air-K9 dog shows, clowns, face painting, and a large number of technology mobiles with games are just a few of the activities.

Attendees will be able to purchase at the food courtyard a variety of food suited for everyone’s taste.

Families are encouraged to contribute one toy towards the Amigos for Kids toy drive that will be donated to needy children in the community.
