Dog racing returns to Mardi Gras Gaming, December 12th

Mardi Gras Gaming’s 77th season of live dog racing begins December 12th and is certain to deliver the same thrill packed racing it has for over 77 years. An elite group of dog racing’s most seasoned canines include perennial fan favorites such as Clay Black, Joe Trudden, Regall Sports and Barney O’Donnell’s O’Donnell Kennels. The stakes racing calendar will continue and includes four seminal competitions this season: the Futurity, the World Classic, the Joe Ryan Memorial and the Hollywoodian.

The first stake race is the Mardi Gras Futurity, which has been an institution at the track since 1981. It’s one of the most popular stake races because it is a glimpse into the future of greyhound racing, where good performers have gone on to become some of the best racers in the country. The next stakes race is on March 25th, the Hollywood World Classic, where Champion greyhounds from around the country qualify for this race. April 2nd marks the ninth running of Mardi Gras’s $10,000 Joe Ryan Jr. Memorial, who was Mardi Gras’ operations manager for more than 30 years. The final stakes race of the season is the $30,000 Hollywoodian and this exciting championship will be run on May 6th.

Mardi Gras Casino is located at 831 North Federal Highway on the corner of US-1 and Pembroke Road. The casino offers over 70,000 square feet of casino excitement featuring 1,100 Las Vegas-style slot machines, including new linked Progressive slots, video roulette, and virtual blackjack; 30 action packed poker tables; simulcast and greyhound racing; and various dining options.
