Dr. Anna Binder is a board certified psychiatrist, an esteemed Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a Fellow of American Psychiatric Association. She is fully trained in both Adult and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She received her General and Adult Psychiatry training at University of Maryland/ Sheppard Pratt Program and then attended prestigious Johns Hopkins Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship training program.

Dr. Binder was selected as a Top Psychiatrist in Stamford, CT by the International Association of Health Care Professionals (IAHCP) and spotlighted in the publication The Leading Physicians of the World 2014 Edition. She is also a Recipient of the Roger Coleman Memorial Award Service to Patients by the Connecticut Psychiatric Society for exemplary devotion to patients and commitment to quality care for her volunteer efforts in the Sandy Hook tragedy.

Dr. Binder has extensive experience in Emergency Psychiatry, providing crisis services and treating a broad range of psychiatric and behavior disorders, including depression, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), substance abuse, Autism, Asperger’s disorder and more. She offers a thoughtful, comprehensive assessment, to discuss and weigh out the role that medications could play to support the patient’s process of change. Her goal is to provide the expert psychiatric care that will allow the patient to perform at their best.

Her array of psychiatric services includes medication management, individual therapy, family therapy, behavior planning for children and adolescents, and advocacy for children in need of specialized academic services. Her practice specializes in the medication management of adults and children with mood, anxiety and attentional disorders. She has special expertise in treating individuals who also have medical illnesses or who are pregnant/postpartum and in need of medication support as a component of their care. She works with individuals, couples and families to address their relationship or career issues.

With a style that is professional, empathetic and approachable, the core of her practice is Psycho-educational. She firmly believes that her patients should understand and actively participate in their treatment. She also collaborates regularly with her patients’ other physicians, to discuss and plan the best and most effective individualized treatment.

Not everyone needs medications. Dr. Binder makes every attempt to streamline or reduce medications when possible, but help develop effective, safe regimens in cases when medications are truly necessary. She makes appropriate referrals to excellent, experienced therapists when necessary. She employs a holistic approach to treating all patients and specializes in partnering with her patients to help them meet their full potential.
