Former Aventura Commissioner Bob Diamond honored by Hillside High (N.J.) Alumni

Bob DiamondNew Jersey’s Hillside High School holds great memories for former Aventura Commissioner Bob Diamond, and the same is true for the Hillside High Alumni as they voted in Bob to enter their Hall of Fame. The luncheon, held at Via Mizner Golf and Country Club in Boca Raton and attended by over 170 people, was sponsored by the Florida Hillside High Alumni. The award was presented to Bob for “Outstanding Performance, Unparalleled Leadership and Extraordinary Accomplishments” for the community of Hillside. Bob, and his beloved wife Arlene, graduated Hillside High together in 1949, and have been married for 61 years. They have three children, Vivian, David, Richard and eight grandchildren.

At Hillside High, Bob excelled in football, achieving First TeamAll-State honors as a guard. He then went to F & MCollege on a football scholarship, played guard and in 1950, the college team went undefeated and untied. Fifty years later, the entire team was installed in the F &MFootball Hall of Fame.

After becoming an attorney, Bob served Hillside as Municipal Court Prosecutor, City Attorney, Commissioner, Mayor, Judge of the Municipal Court, as well as president of numerous community and charitable organizations. When Bob and Arlene retired to Florida in 1991, Bob continued his outstanding community service in Aventura, and was elected to the City of Aventura Commission where he served nine years.
