Aventura Marketing Council members recently helped make a “Thanksgiving difference” during a festive AMC holiday breakfast meeting “ho-ho-hosted” by the Hard Rock Café on Seminole Way in Hollywood benefiting Jubilee Center of South Broward – dedicated to providing emergency resources and relief from hunger and despair.

AMC Chair Cliff Schulman of Weiss, Serota, Helfman helped welcome over 150 business and community leaders to the philanthropic event along with Hard Rock Café Sales and Marketing Manager Robyn Melvin, General Manager Scott Jacobs and Jubilee Center executive director Joyce Curtis.

Melvin noted, “Hard Rock International is focused on making the earth a safer, healthier and better place. Today we celebrate World Hunger Year. Did you know that 925 million children will go hungry in 2010 and the number one cause of hunger comes from poverty? Together, let’s imagine a world where all kids have enough food to eat that’s healthy and nutritious; and where they can take pride in growing, harvesting and selling new food. We can make this come true with hard work, love and conviction.

“Hard Rock International and World Hunger Year (WHY) are dedicated to fighting the root causes of hunger and poverty by supporting grassroots organizations that create self-reliance, economic justice and equal access to nutritious and affordable foods. Founded in 1975 by the late musician and activist Harry Chapin and current executive director Bill Ayres, WHY works to put an end to hunger suffered by 49 million Americans and more than one billion people worldwide.

Melvin pointed out that thanks to Yoko Ono’s support of Hard Rock International, World Hunger brochures feature the image of John Lennon with the theme Imagine There’s No Hunger. She also invited everyone to share in celebrating Hard Rock’s upcoming 40th anniversary marked by exciting “40 day and 40 night” activities.

Speaking on behalf of the Jubilee Center, Joyce Curtis explained, “We serve hundreds of meals to people who line up every day and provide boxes of groceries. People who are hungry these days look like you and me – there are a lot of families and single mothers with children. Please come visit or volunteer and we’ll show you how your donations are put to good use.”

During the breakfast, the Hard Rock Café’s gift for generosity was apparent as an incredible breakfast “feast” was served that would even stuff Santa. In keeping with the AMC’s gift for giving back, guests all brought a minimum of two cans of nonperishable food for the Thanksgiving drive benefiting Jubilee Center plus many also purchased distinctive “Imagine” red bracelets for a dollar to help feed one child three meals.

Creating even more reason to “give thanks” to Hard Rock, lucky winners received great door prizes including a $100 gift card to Hard Rock Café-Hollywood won by Rita Regev of Optimar International Realty; a Hard Rock memorabilia book won by Jeff Greenman of Calder Racetrack and Casino; and tickets to “Rock of Ages” at the Broward Center donated by Broadway Across America won by Shelley Phillips of Fast Care.
