Justice for all interested in “building business” prevailed at a recent Aventura Marketing Council breakfast meeting co-hosted by Association Law Group and Hotwire Communications/Hotwire Business Solutions. The event featured County Court judges from the North Dade Justice Center including Associate Administrative Judge Linda Singer Stein, Judge Myriam Lehr, Judge Carlos Guzman, Judge Charles Johnson and Judge Caryn Schwartz. Circuit Court Judge Lisa Walsh of the Dade County Courthouse and County Court Judge Rudy Ruiz of the Miami Beach Courthouse also presided along with Circuit Court Judge Stan Blake, who served as the emcee—sure to be voted the best comedian Emcee in town! His years of friendship with the panel of judges and knowledge about the judicial system gave him great material for his very funny, rapidfire comments that left the audience holding their sides in laughter.
Legal leader/AMC Chair Cliff Schulman of Weiss, Serota, Helfman greeted guests gathered at Florida International University’s Kovens Conference Center and welcomed Association Law Group senior partners Ben Solomon, Michael Furshman and Business Development Director Howard Weinberg who is also an Aventura Commissioner, as well as Carl Lender, Vice President of Sales for Hotwire Communications/Hotwire Business Solutions and Marketing Specialist Evie Hernandez.

Judge Lehr and Judge Singer noted, “At the North Dade Justice Center, we have the best camaraderie and pride ourselves on being an open courthouse for you.”
When the gavel passed to Judge Schwartz, she warned the community to beware of nefarious companies acquiring condos from owners behind on payments or facing foreclosure. “They try to collect from new tenants without any intention of paying outstanding debts. But now, a new law permits condo associations to send a statutory notice informing them that payments must be made directly to the association if owners are in arrears.”
Judge Johnson, Judge Guzman, Judge Walsh and Judge Ruiz ruled it’s challenging to deal with cases involving criminal law, domestic violence and condo disputes. They concurred, “Everyone will receive our full attention and best efforts. We try to ensure the court process is easier for all concerned.”
