Mardi Gras Casino Renovates Historic Grandstand

Mardi Gras Casino, home of the largest operating dog track grandstand in the world, is about to get even better! The thrill of the race has been part of South Florida’s history and culture since 1934, when 1,200 fans ignored sub-freezing temperature to wager $14,000. The first race was won by Buddy Hawk, paying $62.00 to win.

As this is being written, craftsmen are hard at work renovating the historic grandstand, enlarging the aisle, resealing the metal and adding new chairs. Completion is slated for the end of this August.

Along with a beautiful new grandstand, Mardi Gras is gearing up for a fabulous night of comedy on November 3rd. The evening promises to be extra special as the winner of our very own comedy challenge will open the show for the headliner (to be announced at a later date). With the best of our local talent meeting national talent, it is an event you won’t want to miss.

Rounding out these exciting events are upcoming concerts. On November 18th, Mardi Gras Casino will feature one of the most successful vocal groups of rock and roll, The Platters. With 40 charting singles on the Billboard 100, and four number one hits, The Platters are a group everyone can enjoy.
