Marquis Bank, celebrating the opening of its second banking center in Aventura, recently hosted an Aventura Marketing Council Chairman’s Roundtable meeting featuring Jeff Berkowitz, president of Berkowitz Development Group, one of Miami- Dade’s pre-eminent retail developers. During the event, Berkowitz shared an exclusive preview of plans for SkyRise Miami – the soaring, 1,000 foot high landmark observation and entertainment tower set to rise on less than two acres of waterfront property at Bayside Marketplace.
SkyRise Miami, which would be the highest building on the eastern seaboard south of New York, is being heralded as the “Eiffel Tower of Miami”; “The most exciting, iconic project Miami has ever seen”; and “A vertical entertainment venue like no other!” SkyRise Miami is anticipated to annually attract an estimated 3.2 million visitors and generate over $1 billion for Miami-Dade County.
AMC Chair Cliff Schulman of Weiss, Serota, Helfman welcomed business and community leaders gathered at Turnberry Isle Miami along with Marquis Bank Chairman and CEO Javier Holtz. “Complementing Marquis’ Coral Gables location, Aventura is a perfect fit because of its growth and demographics,” Holtz said. “Its business vitality and luxury living opportunities have made the city one of Miami-Dade County’s fastest growing municipalities.”
While Aventura is welcoming Marquis Bank as well as appreciating other thriving commercial properties such as the Aventura Commons shopping center (home
to Whole Foods Market) developed by the Berkowitz team, the City of Miami and surrounding communities are now poised to prosper from SkyRise Miami – Berkowitz’s most ambitious project yet. Sharing his vision for SkyRise Miami, Berkowitz explained he is collaborating with world-class architects, designers, engineers, contractors and theme park experts to create “a truly global icon that will be an instantly recognizable, revolutionary structure capturing the energy and exhilaration of Miami.”
Beyond three observation decks with unparalleled, panoramic 40-mile views, SkyRise Miami will encompass multiple attractions including: A grand entry/promenade; a SkyRise night club and restaurant; a 500-seat ballroom; meeting, conference and event space; and a private, exclusive Sky High Club at the tower’s top level.
SkyRise Miami visitors will also enjoy a thrilling, exhilarating SkyRise Drop or Sky Plunge – the longest and fast drop ride in the world falling up to 650 feet as fast as 95 mph. There will also be a 4D Flying Theatre featuring a breathtaking virtual reality tour of South Florida’s greatest sights and sounds.
Berkowitz noted the Downtown Development Authority, Beacon Council, the County Commission, Dade Delegation as well as elected officials and investors are among supporters of SkyRise Miami. “We hope you take advantage of opportunities to join us at SkyRise Miami – the symbol of the new Miami that will be a landmark project for a world-class city debuting in 2018.”
