In 2010, the City of Aventura hosted Mayor Sergio Massa from the city of Tigre, Argentina. In recent national primaries held in Argentina on August 11, Sergio Massa was the big victor for National Congressman from the Province of Buenos Aires, winning with 35.5% of the vote, defeating the ruling party candidate by almost six points. Recent polling indicates that his lead in the Province of Buenos Aires is increasing in advance of the general elections scheduled for October 27. Most importantly, since the Province of Buenos Aires is the largest electoral district representing 37% of total voters on the national level, Sergio Massa’s victory has national implications. His favorability rating across Argentina is rising as well, catapulting him to the national stage as one of the major candidates for President of Argentina in 2015.
