For the third time, Memorial Hospital West has been named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals, by Truven Health Analytics in Modern Healthcare magazine. It is the only Broward County hospital to receive the honor.
The 100 Top Hospitals study evaluates hospitals on overall organizational performance, including patient care, operational efficiency and financial stability, comparing only facilities of similar size and teaching status. The study uses objective research and independent public data to recognize hospitals that demonstrate that high-quality patient outcomes can be achieved while improving efficiency.
“I am incredibly proud of our entire team of employees who, together with the Medical Staff, made this recognition possible,” said C. Kennon Hetlage, FACHE, Administrator and Chief Executive Officer at Memorial Hospital West.
Joint Commission, UnitedHealth Designations
The 100 Top Hospitals honor is just one recent achievement. Memorial Hospital West has received the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for health quality and safety, as well as recertification as a Primary Stroke Center.
In addition, UnitedHealth has designated Memorial Hospital West as a Premium Cardiac Specialty Center in Interventional Cardiac Care and in Rhythm Management (Cardiac Electrophysiology).
Memorial’s cardiac catheterization laboratory is the leader in Broward County, with more than 4,500 diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and percutaneous coronary interventions performed annually. The Rapid Response Heart Attack Team – among the busiest in South Florida – provides angioplasty and stenting to open acutely obstructed coronary arteries in select heart attack patients and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Memorial Hospital West recently underwent an expansion that increased its licensed beds to 384 in all private rooms. Memorial Cancer Institute, with CyberKnife® surgical system and RapidArc™ technology, and Memorial Breast Cancer Center are the leading programs in Broward County. The hospital also is home to Broward County’s first inpatient bone marrow transplant unit.
