Miami Dade College’s (MDC) North Campus will transform itself into a winter wonderland for its annual Children’s Holiday at North on Saturday, December 12th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This holiday tradition is expected to bring thousands of families with children of all ages and this year we are proud to announce that Ms. Kelly Blanco, Traffic Reporter for NBC 6 will once again co-host the event in its entirety.
The festivities will commence with the arrival of Santa Claus at 11 a.m., immediately followed by a parade led by both Mr. and Mrs. Claus, along with Santa’s little helpers, numerous characters and marching bands. Children will also be able to greet Santa and take a picture with him by his chimney!
Other highlights include a 12-foot mountain of snow, where children will be able to experience South Florida-style sledding, train rides, bounce houses, rock-climbing walls, face-painting, and puppet shows. There will also be live performances on three stages, including a Polynesian dance group, jazz bands, orchestras from various middle and high schools, and much more.
In addition, there will be a variety of more than 50 exhibits, featuring wild animal shows, a petting zoo, games, and arts and crafts. The event will also feature a Holidays-Around-the-World Center, showcasing global holiday customs and traditions as well as Elsie’s Greenshop, where kids will learn about ‘going green’ this season – from ornaments to cards.
The event is free and open to the public and will be held at MDC North Campus, located at 11380 NW 27 Avenue. Families are encouraged to contribute canned goods and/or a non-perishable food item to benefit the North Campus Food Pantry for Students.
