Midtown Miami Showcases Artist in Residence

image001Art is all about beauty and creativity, and these days, artists are looking at things in different ways. Midtown Miami’s Artist in Residence, Tom Matousek, is a perfect example of this creativity. As an abstract impressionist, Matousek creates large paintings that when viewed up close, draws the viewer’s eyes to the geometric shapes, but when viewed from a distance, it becomes apparent that every shape has intent and design. The self-taught, award-winning artist from the San Francisco Bay Area notes that people may immediately be attracted by the colors, but it’s actually the shadows in the images that are the important attractions.

On Friday, December 6th at 6pm, Midtown Miami’s Fountain Plaza will be transformed into an art gallery showcasing Mr. Matousek’s work. Event goers will sample food and drinks from some of Midtown’s restaurants and bars as well as get a sneak peek of the new BMW i3 Coupe Concept from Braman Motors.

Launching in early 2014, the new i3 Coupe is powered by a 170 hp electric motor, drawing energy from the lithium-ion storage cells under the floor. This low slung Coupe concept is predicted to have a range of 100 miles when driven in ECO PRO mode — one of three modes available on the vehicle.
