Motherhood the Musical arrives to Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center at Nova

Motherhood the Musical is the brand new, hilarious and poignant 90-minute musical that will take you on a journey through the lives of four women as they make their way through the blessings and perils of Motherhood at any age.

The musical “delivers” side-splitting and moving performances at the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center at Nova Southeastern University’s Davie Campus.

Featuring a cast of South Florida’s favorite actresses, the show opens at a baby shower for Amy, played by Lisa Manuli, the naive 20-something who is about to deliver her first child. Amy gets an earful about motherhood, including the good, the bad and the ugly; the diapers, the dirty laundry and the sleepless nights from her three more experienced girlfriends. Barb, played by Laura Turnbull, is the over-worked, underpaid mother of five. Brooke, played by Margot Moreland, is the lawyer who works too much and doesn’t spend enough time with her kids. And Tasha, played by Kareema Khouri, is the single mom who’s struggling to juggle it all.

The musical features 18 original songs written or co-written by Sue Fabisch, the #1 hit songwriter in Nashville, TN, and Billboard Magazine Top 10 Comedy Artist, who also wrote the play. Fabisch wrote the songs to amuse herself as she made her own way through the trials of motherhood. They include “Welcome to Motherhood,” “Mommy, Mommy, Mommy,” “Minivan,” “Costco Queen,” “I Leak,” “Baby Weight Blues,” and the #1 hit “The Kids are Finally Asleep.”

Producer Kathi Glist with GFour Productions fell in love with the project and decided to bring it to her home town to debut. “When Motherhood the Musical crossed my desk, it spoke to me! It resonated within my heart and deeply in my soul. I knew very quickly that it would do the same for audiences.” And Kathi knows from where she speaks, GFour is also the producer of the international smash hit Menopause The Musical that has been seen by millions on multiple continents.

Motherhood the Musical is about climbing the emotional mountain only to find that there’s laundry at the top. It’s discovering how powerful your love can be and how quickly kids grow up. It’s helping them find their way and not losing yours. It’s about laughing and crying, craziness and calm, smiles and tears . . . and all before breakfast. It will tickle your funny bone and pull at your heart strings.
