Just as WSVN Channel 7 news was reporting on volunteer efforts to help the storm-ravaged South following the second- deadliest day of twisters in U.S. history, the station’s weekend meteorologist Vivian Gonzalez addressed business and community leaders attending an Aventura Marketing Council Chairman’s Roundtable luncheon hosted by Parksman Parking.

AMC Chair Cliff Schulman of Weiss, Serota, Helfman helped welcome guests gathered at Christine Lee’s at Gulfstream Park along with Parksman Parking principals Mark Radi, Zeke Kaufman and Ben Launerts, now serving as Parksman’s president and managing partner.

Launerts explained Marksman Security Corporation, one of South Florida’s premier residential and commercial security companies serving over 160 luxury residential and commercial properties, has launched a cutting-edge sister company – Parksman Parking, LLC. Parksman combines 24-hour security supervision with 24-hour valet and parking management.

Following the recent acquisition of a local valet company, Parksman has commenced operations, expertly fulfilling the need for high quality valet parking services and parking management to luxury condominiums, hotels and commercial venues. Parksman’s premier list of South Florida clients includes Sole on the Ocean Hotel and Resort, Ocean Four Condominium and King David Condominium in Sunny Isles Beach.

While Parksman helps ensure the safety of clients and their vehicles, Channel 7 meteorologist Vivian Gonzalez is dedicated to keeping South Floridians apprised of weather conditions that become especially essential to monitor during hurricane season, starting June 1. Her forecasts air on Channel 7 every Saturday morning between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.

AMiami native, Gonzalez joined 7News in 2005 as a weather producer in the midst of the most active hurricane season on record. Thirty-one systems were spawned that year with Wilma and Katrina impacting South Florida directly. She was promoted to weather anchor in 2007 for “Today In Florida” Saturday Edition and remains committed to keeping viewers aware of South Florida’s fast changing weather patterns.

According to WSVN, weather forecasters at Colorado State University are predicting an above-average 2011 hurricane season with 16 named storms in the Atlantic, nine of which are expected to turn into hurricanes – five of them major.

“The best part of my job is providing viewers with information needed to get through their day,” Gonzalez said. “Having the advantage of thoroughly knowing the computer systems makes my job easier. Aside from analyzing and interpreting the weather data at hand, I’m able to build my weather models and shows around the story for the day.

“It’s my obligation to the community to provide the most accurate information, including the visuals to support such important data…When we have a severe thunderstorm warning issued, we have to set up the radar, get a graphic together showing the area under advisory and then run out to the studio to break into programming. It’s a matter of seconds that seem like an eternity. The real challenge comes in translating the information out to the public. It’s my responsibility to keep viewers safe.”

AMC members planned on learning more about hurricane preparedness by visiting the Channel 7 news website Business leaders as well as condo/HOA members and property managers were also invited to attend a complimentary seminar prior to the luncheon presented by the AMC and Luxury Condominium Alliance. Topics included how to turn building waste into energy efficiency; save substantially on lighting and water bills; and how to collect delinquent assessments without legal fees.
