Prestige Cultural Series at FIU Biscayne Bay caters to variety of tastes

Whether your taste in music runs to classical or jazz, The School of Music at Florida International University’s Biscayne Bay Campus Prestige Cultural Series has something to whet your appetite.

The series kicks off at 7:30 on Nov. 20th with a performance by the school’s Graduate String Quartet & String Chamber Music Ensembles in the Mary Ann Wolfe Theatre, 3000 NE 151st Street, North Miami.

On Jan. 22nd, the 12-piece FIU Latin Jazz Band performs in the Sunny Isles Beach Community School, 201 182nd Drive, Sunny Isles Beach.

On Feb. 20th, selected piano students enrolled in FIU’s Keyboard Studies program will be in the spotlight for “Piano Fantasies,” a performance of a wide range of masterworks. The concert returns the series to the Wolfe Theatre.

Fine dining and music combine on March 22nd with the Gourmet Wine & Food Pairing, which will include a performance by the FIU Klezmer Band. FIU School of Hospitality & Tourism Management students plan to create and serve a three-course gourmet meal featuring a unique selection of three wines. Seating is limited for the event, so plan ahead.

For the series finale on April 9th, singers enrolled in the FIU Opera Theatre perform popular compositions from selected operas and operettas in the Mary Ann Wolfe Theatre.

Three ticket plans are available. The Blue Guest VIP ticket to all five events is $125; the Gold Guest VIP package offers two tickets to all events plus recognition from the podium the program for $250. Individual tickets for the series are $20 each for four events and $45 for the Wine Pairing Luncheon on March 22nd.

Proceeds benefit FIU Biscayne Bay’s Campus Excellence Fund and School of Music.
