Renowned chef Werner Staub reopened ‘Peppermill’

By looking at the menu you will quickly notice something very familiar about Werner Staub’s Peppermill Restaurant at the Arlen House Condominium. Staub is now delighting Sunny Isles diners with a quality fare with many of the signature dishes he carefully orchestrated for the famous La Paloma in North Miami. From Coquilles St. Jacques, Filet of Brook Trout Werner, Grilled Lamb Chops à la Diable and Wiener Schnitzel to the classic Apple Strudel à la Mode.

While the neighborhood has seen many other restaurants and bars come and go over the years, Staub’s staying power is sure to be the culinary artistry distinguishing him as one of the most famous chefs in South Florida.

“Werner Staub’s Peppermill” was reopened in 2011 at the new 7,000 squarefoot waterfront location in Sunny Isles where guests can experience a warm and inviting ambiance with a magnificent view of the intercostal from every table indoors and on the patio. Beautiful Tivoli lighting decorations, cherry wood furnishings, antiques and ornately set tables, provide a rich setting for an elegant, yet casual fine dining experience.

Professional servers will suggest the chef’s specials such as fresh Stone Crabs; Dover Sole imported from England, deboned at your table; Whole Red Snapper Werner style; Bronzini Almondine; roasted Duck à l’Orange served with sweet orange sauce; or Rack of Lamb.

If you have been to La Paloma or the Peppermill at the Waterways Shoppes in Aventura, you will instantly recognize the “Peppermill Salad” brimming with carrots, beets, coleslaw and cucumbers. And for those who usually don’t order soup, make an exception. While the minestrone and lobster bisque are equally delicious, the onion soup baked with rich stock, Swiss Emmentaler and Gruyere cheese is something you will definitely be raving about to all your friends.

If you are dining earlier in the evening, the Sunset Menu offers an outstanding variety with complete meals including a choice of appetizer and dessert from 4-5 p.m. daily. Just some of the most popular entrées are Steak Alfredo, topped with grilled peppers, mushrooms, and onions; Shrimp Scampi in herb, butter and garlic sauce; poached Norwegian Salmon served with a marvelous tarragon sauce; and chicken Medallions Portobello in Masala wine.

Favorites on the regular dinner menu include Mediterranean Bouillabaisse prepared with lobster, mussels, shrimp, snapper and sea bass in a unique tomato saffron broth; Lobster Thermidor; and the delectable Ribeye Steak.

After an extraordinary meal, all bets are off concerning calories, so enjoy indulging in desserts to satisfy the palette such as Staub’s amazing Strawberries Romanoff with vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce; hot Apple Strudel à la Mode, Peppermill Swiss Chocolate Mousse Cake; or the artistically prepared Swiss Chocolate Basket filled with seasonal berries. For the perfect finishing touch, don’t forget to ask for the Peppermill Coffee with a blend of brandy, Kahlúa and Triple Sec.

And so, while Peppermill is new to Sunny Isles, the legendary restaurant entertains and attends to long time friends and fans of Werner Staub who are happy to see a familiar face – especially since he is bringing his recipe of success so close to home! Peppermill is a hidden gem located within the Arlen House Condo Complex (350 Bayview Dr, Sunny Isles Beach). Please note that when entering the Arlen House Complex advise the gate that you are dining at the Peppermill Restaurant and follow the road to the Peppermill Parking sign.
