Sail Away – Just Go for It!

Sometimes we have to be willing to step outside of our comfort zones to achieve our goals. Even when we are not quite sure what the end goal may actually be, if there is a voice within us nudging us in a new direction, we owe it to ourselves to listen.

Trust the process. That’s the nugget of advice I offer friends and colleagues facing challenging moments with work and/or life. It’s amazing how things have a way of evolving and always working out.

I will share with you an incredible experience which came about due to my belief that we create our own change and that when we operate from a place of authenticity, The Universe picks up on it, and BAM… things happen!

Trust the process. A few weeks ago while researching travel information online, I came across a company that built its reputation on providing relaxation, fun and adventure to adult passengers. I’m a big believer in adults needing to recapture some of the exuberance and carefree attitudes we had as children. So in my ‘create change’ mindset, I reached out to the company. For some reason, it just seemed like it would be a perfect fit for fun activities scheduled for other singles, hosted by Highway to a Husband.

A few phone calls and emails later, I found myself joining passengers and crew aboard Windjammer Sailing Adventures legendary tall-ship The Mandalay, sailing the high seas of the Eastern Caribbean! After all, if I had a vision of bringing singles together to ‘get away from it all’ I would have to experience the excursion first hand.

Incredible. Fantastic. Adventurous. Beautiful. How many more adjectives can I use to describe the experience of spending a week exploring the Grenadine Islands in the West Indies? Aboard The Mandalay, an intimate group of about thirty passengers has the opportunity to experience the thrill and freedom of old-fashioned sailing. There is something magical about feeling the roll, rise and fall of the ocean while sitting on the top deck gazing at the brilliant blue waves, or feeling the gentle rock-a-bye effect when crawling into one’s bunk at night. We even helped the crew hoist the sails!

Plenty of fun was had on board and on shore. Great food, dancing and friendships, fantastic exploring, swimming, snorkeling and kayaking.

Trust the process. Create your own change. One never knows where an idea or thought will take you. I can’t wait to take the first group of Highway to a Husband singles on the high seas!
