Thanks to a most generous donation from Haemonetics Corporation of Braintree, Massachusetts, Starlight Children’s Foundation of Florida had the opportunity to surprise 30 seriously ill children and their siblings with brand new bikes at an extraordinary event which took place at the Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Through the wonderful efforts put forth by Terrapin Station, Starlight became the recipients of Haemonetic’s goodwill as associates pieced together disassembled bikes parts in a team building exercise resulting in 30 brand new bicycles for underprivileged kids. Overwhelmed by the emotions of receiving such an enormous gift, seriously ill children and the staff of Haemonetics bonded together as kids took to immediate flight around the resort’s parking lot with their bicycles.
“We cannot thank Haemonetics enough for this incredible donation to the special children and families we serve” said Robert Peters, Southeast Region Director “watching the excitement of the Associates as they worked in teams to assemble bikes for our children spoke volumes to the heartfelt dedication this organization has in supporting the most vulnerable in our community!”
Families, staff and guests were further elated by the announcement from Haemonetics of an additional pledge to Starlight Children’s Foundation through a gift of critical funds which will go directly to Starlight’s programs and services helping provide additional supports to events for children and families.
Brian Concannon, Haemonetics’ President and Chief Executive Officer, commented: “We are proud to be a supporter of Starlight Children’s Foundation. Through their unselfish efforts, a needed positive impact is made on the lives of these children and their families. Our team will remember the joy and enthusiasm of this event for a long time and we wish only the very best outcome to each of the children we met.”
