This summer the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center, known for its richly diverse summer camp programming, will be extra special because nobody knows summer like the MAR-JCC’s Camp Sol Taplin!
In its efforts to keep its long-standing record of being rated one of the best summer camps in Miami Dade County for kids ages 2 ½ to 15, the MAR-JCC’s Camp Sol Taplin will offer exciting, fast-paced extreme & teen travel camps designed specifically for today’s pre-teen and teenage campers.
“We’re reshaping the day-camp scene with awesome activities, amazing long-distance trips and thrilling adventures.” commented Neal Buchholz, Director of Camp Sol Taplin.
Camp Sol Taplin will offer camps such as Extreme Adventure, where daily activities include kayaking, rock climbing, scuba & snorkeling and go-carting for tweens entering grades 5-7. Each session of camp is highlighted by extended trips including a 5-day/4-night “All-Florida Theme Park Adventure” for session one campers and a 7-day/6-night sleep-away camp adventure at Camp Livingston in Cincinnati for session two campers.
In Teen Travel camp, created for teens entering grades 7-9, session one campers will take a 4-night/5-day cruise to the Caribbean and session two campers will take a fantastic road trip to the Carolinas, highlighted by amusement parks, white river rafting, zip-lining and more.
Teen Scene camp is enhanced by activities such as gaming, music, fitness, nutrition workshops and community service projects.
For teens entering grades 9-10, who are seeking community service hours while enjoying a summer camp experience, developing leadership skills and a knowledge of working with children, the Madatzim program is the perfect fit. As junior leaders,Madatzim campers develop counseling skills through on-the-job training and leadership development workshops with trained professionals.
These summer camp programs are in addition to 32 other summer camps that include soccer, aquatics, sports, tennis and gymnastics camps. Including camps that are devoted to dance, theatre, art and science that are led by senior staff members and specialists.
Camp Sol Taplin offers two, four, six and eight-week options.
