On a recent Saturday in July, when most people are at the beach or pool working on their tans, the employee volunteers from The Continental Group joined forces with Kids in Distress and Miami Dolphins Special Teams, a new volunteer program, to refurbish a preschool on the Kids in Distress main campus in Wilton Manors.

This meant painting, landscaping and repairing everything to transform the preschool facility into a better location to provide a safe haven for children in need. “It was by no means easy, but it was so satisfying to everyone involved. To know that by giving one day of service meant that years of preschoolers would have a nicer and safer place to learn is heartwarming and worth all the sweat,” said Louis Pincus, Senior VP of The Continental Group.

The Continental Group is the largest manager of multifamily rental communities, condominium and homeowner associations in the state, and one of South Florida’s leading private sector employers with over 5,000 employees.

“Kid in Distress is an organization that is near and dear to the hearts of our Continental employees. It was fun getting our hands dirty and we really created something to be proud of,” said Yra Saab-Tro, director of communications and community relations for The Continental Group.

Kids in Distress (KID) is a community-supported agency providing services for the prevention and treatment of child abuse in South Florida, with facilities throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties. KID’s programs offer a continuum of care and essential services to child victims, and children and families at risk for abuse and neglect. They are a local agency open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with emergency shelters and counseling.

“A big thank you to Capital Painting Waterproofing and Restoration for donating all the paint supplies, the Miami Dolphins Foundation volunteers, and The Continental Group and their dedicated employees who made some dreams come true with their hard work,” said Maggie Hulsey, director of operations for Kids in Distress.
