Board Member Regalado donates hundreds of toys to low-income kids

Toys are an integral part of a child’s growth and this is especially true for a child with special needs. When given the opportunity to play with toys, boys and girls with special needs such as autism have better chances to reach their full potential in the areas of mental, physical, emotional and social development.

Many special needs children, however, are from low-income families that are unable to provide them with the toys necessary for their healthy development.

On Friday, February 12, Board Member Regalado visited Citrus Grove Elementary to distribute hundreds of toys to students of the Autism Intensive Communication Academy as well as to non-disabled students in Pre-K and Kindergarten. Citrus Grove serves children living in low-income neighborhoods. This event served to make a positive difference this Valentine’s season in the lives of some of the school District’s frailest students.

These toys were made possible by the City of Miami and La Poderosa 670 AM radio station.
