Adonel Concrete has announced that it will increase its Scholarship Fund to financially assist children of company employees from $35,000 to $50,000 in 2017. The announcement was made by Luis Garcia, president and CEO, at the company’s corporate retreat earlier this year.

In 2016, Adonel Concrete awarded four scholarships to students who had distinguished themselves in the classroom. The scholarships should help recipients meet their educational goals while also relieving them of the monetary burden to attend a higher education institution.

“It’s a wonderful feeling to touch one’s life,” Garcia said. “Giving back is something that we as a company take very seriously, and I am happy that we are able to help our employees as their children excel in school.”

The first class of the Adonel Scholarship Fund included two graduating seniors from Miami-Dade County public schools and two current, Miami-based college students.

A committee comprised of local business leaders will review this year’s applicants with the 2017 scholarship recipients scheduled to be announced in the summer.

“I am so proud of what we have created and look forward to growing our Adonel family for years to come,” Garcia said.

Founded in 1984 by Luis Garcia, Adonel Concrete maintains 12 concrete plants and two block plants in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Fort Pierce. In 2010, Adonel expanded its operations to Haiti where it now operates three plants. Adonel has nearly 300 employees and a fleet of 180 trucks.
