Albert E. Dotson Jr. honored by Women Works Media Group

Bilzin Sumberg has announced that Albert E. Dotson Jr. has been named recipient of the Law and Justice Award by Women Works Media Group, recognizing the most powerful and influential attorneys in Miami working towards justice and equality in the community.

The award honors advocates who showcase excellence and dedication towards justice and equality within the law. Honorees possess intellectual capital, integrity, courage, and vision, coupled with an unwavering commitment to their respective legal practice.

As Land Development & Government Relations Practice Group Leader, Dotson is recognized consistently for his professional contributions and has been called “a pioneer in diversity in the law” by the Daily Business Review. Legacy Miami Magazine named him as one of South Florida’s most powerful black professionals in business and industry.

He has received the National Black MBA Association President & CEO Award for Community and Social Justice Leadership and won The National Coalition on Black Civic Participation for the Spirit of Democracy Award.

Appointed by Florida Senators Bill Nelson and Marco Rubio, Dotson serves on the Judicial Nominating Commission of Florida. He also serves as chairman emeritus and board member of 100 Black Men of America.

His extensive professional involvement also includes organizations such as the Alliance for Ethical Government, Miami-Dade College Foundation, and the Dade County Bar Association’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Judicial Campaigns.

Dotson was honored at the organization’s “Men of the Year Law and Justice Awards” ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 30, where the “Civil Rights are Not Equal Rights” theme highlighted the 53rd anniversary of the signing of the Civil Rights Act.
