More than 35 artisans and crafts dealers gathered in Mayfair’s outdoor Promenade in Coconut Grove this past weekend to sell handmade accessories, paintings, sculptures, art photographs, novelties, jewelry, patio furniture, orchids and plants, wax hands for children, embroidered paintings, flattened Key West bottles, wooden plant hangers, metal sea creature sculptures and clothing. Everything was handmade and many of the artisans even demonstrated their craft making skills for the public.
Free to the public, Artisan Crafters Village is also planning three-day shows in December, January and February. “Crafting arts and useful objects is an American tradition pre-dating the revolution, “according to Don Epstein, the event producer. “This is an upscale craft fair that emphasizes the artistic and creative side of crafting. We will have some very original pieces on display and for sale by our artisans.”
