Chopin focus of Weekly Showcase on Classical South Florida 89.7 FM

The Chopin Showcase is airing currently on Classical South Florida 89.7 FM on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. and again on Sundays at 11 a.m. through Feb. 1, 2015.

Each episode of the Chopin Showcase features interesting facts about Frédéric Chopin, the noted Polish composer and virtuoso pianist, along with information about the Chopin Foundation of the United States, which will host the National Chopin Piano Competition, Feb. 21-Mar. 1, in Miami. The Showcase includes the music of Chopin as performed by some of its most important past winners and interpreters typically associated with Chopin’s music.

The Chopin Showcase is made possible through the support of Lady Blanka Rosenstiel and The Chopin Foundation of the United States. The broadcasts are hosted by Melissa Ousely and produced by Valerie Kahler with contributions from Classical South Florida president Néstor Rodríguez. Classical South Florida is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) public radio organization dedicated to broadcasting classical music.

Classical South Florida’s full-time schedule of classical music includes broadcasts of nationally renowned programs such as Performance Today, SymphonyCast, Classical Live, Carnegie Hall Live, The Metropolitan Opera and Pipedreams.

Classical South Florida began broadcasting in South Florida in October 2007. Its program service can be heard on WKCP 89.7 FM in the upper keys, Miami and Fort Lauderdale, on WPBI 90.7 in the Palm Beaches and the Treasure Coast and on 88.7 in Fort Myers/Naples. Additionally, WPBI News can be heard in the Palm Beaches at 101.9 FM and both classical and news programming is available at classicalsouthflorida. org or via smart phone applications.
