Community leaders gather for U.S. launch of Welever

Community leaders gather for U.S. launch of WeleverMiami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez (left), Miami Dade College (MDC) president Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón (center) and City of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez are pictured at the U.S. launch for Welever, a movement aimed to empower people with the tools to implement social change and impact Sustainable Development Goals. The event, conducted at MDC’s Wolfson Campus, included a panel discussion on “The Future of Innovation, Technology & Sustainable Development” moderated by MDC’s director of Social Initiatives, Sandra LaFleur, and with the participation of Juan Casimiro, president of UN’s Miami Chapter; Jose Almansa, founder and CEO of Welever, and Adriana Machado, partner of Granito Group. A member of UN Global Compact, Welever enters the U.S. presenting an innovative social change for the nation: individuals can now implement social development via their phones by publishing, managing and carrying out social initiatives in their communities.
