A Haunting Feast For The Eyes, Ears and Soul, This Show is Not To Be Missed at The Barnacle on Thursday, Oct. 26th – Sunday, Oct. 29th
Meet the spirits this Halloween season at the Third Annual Haunted Ballet on Thursday, Oct. 26th – Sunday, Oct. 29th at The Barnacle Historic State Park, located at 3485 Main Highway Coconut Grove, FL 33133. Performances begin at 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. as well as an encore performance on Oct 29th at 8 p.m. Bid welcome to those from a bygone era who haunt the lands of Coconut Grove. Watch as they dance their stories beneath the moonlit sky and try to escape their tragic endings night after magical night.
An open walk-thru concept designed by creator and founder Crystal Karaginis Peattie, the performance features various dances that have been choreographed by a group of Miami’s most talented artists and performed across the five-acre property. The dancers are portraying fictional characters based on the history of Coconut Grove, specifically the late 1800s – early 1900s. A haunting feast for the eyes, ears, and soul, this show is not to be missed.
“We are very excited to be back for a third year. I enjoy putting together this annual event that not only showcases the extremely talented artists we have, but is also perfect for all audiences to enjoy during the Halloween season. It’s a performance I hope everyone gets to experience,” said Peattie.
Performing costumes hint at the history of South Florida and are inspired by true historical events that took place in the region. The costumes themselves are a collection of vintage thrift finds, specifically altered for The Haunted Ballet.
Featured choreographers and performer include Crystal Peattie, Teddy Talbot, Hannah Baumgarten, Liony Garcia, Stephanie Fuentes, Adele Myers, Spencer Gavin Hering, Rachel Carroll, Luke Stockton, Jenny Hegarty, Sandra Portal-Andreu, Melanie Martel, Lize-Lotte Pitlo, Ivonne Batanero, Stephan Fons, Sonny Shiu and Joel Mays.
The Barnacle was built in 1891 and offers a glimpse of frontier life during The Era of the Bay, when all travel to and from Miami was by boat. Situated on the shore of Biscayne Bay, this was the home of the Ralph Middleton Munroe, one of Coconut Grove’s most charming and influential pioneers.
