A global communications and marketing firm, Havas Media International Miami, sponsored its first event in a series called Havas Futures on Jan. 22.

Working in partnership with the Knight Foundation, the purpose of the inaugural series is to bridge the gap between media, brands and technology in Miami “by connecting startups with influential media partners and publishers” through a series of events set to take place every two to three months.

Highlights from the event included presentations from four startups where they gave a five-minute pitch to guests, as well as a Wynwood Brewery beer tasting and musical entertainment courtesy of local indie-funk band Magic City Hippies.

“We’re very proud to present Havas Futures, our new series, which will connect the technology and media communities in Miami and foster innovation, along with a great conversation about the technology industry,” said Natalia Vasco, CEO of Havas Media International Miami.

Vasco began the evening with a state-ofthe- industry address in which she discussed the significant changes that have developed in the world of technology, media and consumer behavior, as well as future trends and implications for the year to come.

“Our mission is to unite brands and people through meaningful connections and drive business success,” said Havas spokesperson Patty Jimenez. “We service clients through a portfolio of specialist teams that span media, strategy, international management, digital, mobile, social media, experiential, entertainment and sport. Our simplified and integrated structure has allowed us to build one of the most integrated, agile and responsive global teams in the industry.”
