Dinosaurs LIVE! extended at Zoo Miami until july 5

Due to popular demand, Dinosaurs LIVE! will remain at Zoo Miami through July 5 with 22 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs and displays that look like the real animals that once existed.

The extinct creatures will remain on “life support” in this extraordinary outdoor Jurassic adventure. Open daily during normal zoo operating hours, the exhibit will continue to transport guests to a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

“We’re excited to announce that Dinosaurs LIVE! will remain open during the premiere of the highly anticipated Jurasic World movie in mid-June and through our Independence Day weekend activities,” said Zoo Miami director Eric Stephens.

“More than 250,000 visitors have already enjoyed experiencing these realistic creatures come to life and, by the time it closes in early July, we expect that over 330,000 people will have seen them at Zoo Miami,” he added.

Among the dinosaurs on exhibit, guests will be thrilled to discover favorites like a fully grown “spitting” Dilophosaurus and baby, fast moving carnivores named after its two crests, and of course, the Tyrannosaurus Rex, whose name means “Tyrant Lizard King” due to its size and power.

Other dinosaurs may be easily recognized by visitors, including the Quetzalcoatlus, one of the largest flying creatures to ever exist; a juvenile Deinosuchus, a distant relative of the crocodile we see today, and a Brachiosaurus, a long-necked creature that could have measured up to 50 feet tall.

Guests will be amazed to find dinosaurs they never knew, including the Pachycephalosaurus, whose name means “thick headed lizard;” the Citipati, identified by its unusually short head that ends in a short toothless beak, giving it a bird-like appearance, and the Parasaurolophus, whose name means “beside crested lizard.”

There is so much to see, learn and experience at this one-of-a-kind exhibit that guests may want to rent a safari cycle to see all of the dinos in no time. Sponsored by Assurant and with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, Dinosaurs LIVE! is included with zoo admission and is open through July 5, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and weekends and holidays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
