Miami’s top law firms challenged each other to a dodgeball tournament, “Dare to Dodge,” benefiting United Way of Miami- Dade, on Thursday, Mar. 20.

Now in its second year, the tournament doubled in size to include eight law firms: Akerman LLP, Berger Singerman, Bilzin Sumberg, Carlton Fields Jorden Burt, Fowler White Burnett, Greenberg Traurig, Holland & Knight and Kluger Kaplan Silverman Katzen & Levine. Teams from each firm met at a different type of court and faced off in a single elimination round, complete with referees from Miami Dodgeball League.

After the dust settled, Akerman LLP came out victorious for the second year in a row. Bilzin Sumberg placed second and Fowler White Burnett came in third.

“Dare to Dodge is yet another example of how United Way serves as a bridge, linking all sectors of the community, and bringing diverse partners and competitors to the same table,” said Claudia Grillo, COO, United Way of Miami-Dade.
Grillo welcomed the challengers to the tournament with a very appropriate and familiar phrase from the 2012 blockbuster, The Hunger Games, “may the odds be ever in your favor.”
