League of Women Voters publishes online voter guide for Nov. 8 election

The League of Women Voters of Miami-Dade County has announced the release of the official, nonpartisan Voter Guide for the 2016 state and local General Election on Nov. 8.

The guide provides information about the candidates in order to help voters understand candidate positions and ballot issues so that they can make informed decisions.

“This is a historic election and it’s critical that all eligible voters participate,” said Susan Windmiller, president of the League of Women Voters. “We’re proud to provide this service to Miami-Dade County voters.”

The 2016 Voter Guide can be found on the League’s website at www.lwvmiamidade.org/2016-voters-guide-general-elections.

The 2016 Voter’s Guide includes information on candidates in contested races from opposing parties and those with No Party Affiliation who are on the Nov. 8 ballot. The guide also includes candidates’ answers to biographical and policy questions posed by the League of Women Voters of Miami-Dade. In addition, the guide provides information on amendments to the Florida Constitution and to the Miami-Dade County Charter, as well as on the voters’ decision to retain three Florida Justices.

The League of Women Voters does not endorse nor oppose any candidate or political party. All candidates, regardless of party affiliation, were asked to participate in the guide by responding to an emailed questionnaire. Candidate replies are reproduced exactly as submitted, without editing or verification. Responses are provided for those candidates who took the time to respond. Candidates who chose not to reply to the LWV Voters’ Guide are noted as “DID NOT RESPOND.”

According to the League of Women Voters of the United States, when candidates do not reply, it is the voters who lose, as they do not know where the candidate stands on the issues.
