The event supports the Southern Florida & Puerto Rico Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, whose mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

As part of his leadership, Noriega has challenged Miami Parking Authority employees to raise $10,000 over the next 10 months to help fund blood cancer research. Miami Parking Authority is the first company to commit to supporting the 2015 Walk, and the announcement became official on World Cancer Day taking place across the globe on February 4, 2015.

“We’re proud to support the Light The Night Walk. It’s the perfect way to share our commitment to our community,” said Noriega. “This Walk is a great complement to the excellent care and service provided by our local cancer-treatment hospitals.”

“We are thrilled to have Art’s leadership as the Chairman of the 2015 Light The Night Walk,” said Emily Marquez-Dulin, Executive Director, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Southern Florida & Puerto  Rico Chapter. “With such a respected and knowledgeable chairman leading the way, we expect that local businesses and individuals will jump on the bandwagon and support the fight against cancer in our community.”

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society kicks off the 2015 Light The Night Walk awareness campaign and fundraising season on World Cancer Day with a call to join the fight against cancer.  Miami residents are asked to visit www.lightthenight.org/sfl and sign-up to walk today. “The more time participants have to get familiar with the Walk details, the more successful they will be as fundraisers and the more they can contribute to the cause,” explained Noriega.

The 2015 Miami Light The Night Walk will take place Saturday, November 7th at Bayfront Park. This is the 13th year of the event, which raised over $650,000 last year. This year’s goal is to raise $700,000 for cancer-related programs and research. Individuals and companies interested in sponsoring or attending can call 954‑744-5311 or visit www.lightthenight.orf/sfl.
