Miami DDA dives into art season with Art Days in Downtown Miami

Celebrating its sixth year, the Miami Downtown Development Authority (DDA) launches the 2017 Art Days in Downtown Miami, Friday, Sept. 8, ro Sunday, Sept. 10, featuring a three-day festival filled with unique exhibitions, interactive projects, walking tours, art parties and family-friendly activities.

With events around the clock throughout Downtown Miami, Art Days dives into the region’s art season and celebrates what has evolved into one of the most dynamic arts scenes in the country. All events are open to the public and most are free, with the goal of uniting visitors and residents around a shared passion for art.

“Miami has gone from beach-only destination to multicultural epicenter in just a matter of years, becoming one of the most active arts and culture destinations in the country,” said Alyce Robertson, executive director of the Miami DDA. “Art Days is a celebration of this cultural renaissance, bringing the community together to explore the arts and culture attractions the urban core has to offer.”

The Art Days 2017 lineup can be found at www.dwntwnarts.com. Visitors also can download the free Art Days app on their smartphones for real time updates and alerts.

Art Days will take place at multiple venues throughout Downtown Miami including the recently opened Phillip & Patricia Frost Museum of Science, Pérez Art Museum Miami, HistoryMiami, Miami Children’s Museum and Adrienne Arsht Center.

The Miami Center for Architecture and Design (MCAD), 100 NE First Ave., will be the Art Days Hub, with staff on hand to help plan itineraries, navigate directions and answer any questions that visitors may have. The Hub also will begin with Drink + Draw event and MCAD’s newest exhibition. “Miami Mix: How Brazil Became Part of Miami,” is an exhibit that promotes how foreign cultural contributions have transformed the city of Miami into a diverse global metropolis.

Dive into Art Days 2017 with the Art Days Passport and enter to win a staycation at a Downtown Hotel, with a night on the town including dinner, an event and more. Take an exciting trip around Downtown and visit the city’s cultural institutions, including museums, art galleries, cultural exhibitions, kid-centric and family friendly activities, and more. The most dedicated travelers will have a chance to win prizes for visiting all the participating venues.

There will be every kind of art imaginable including photography art, street art, performance art and interactive activities for the entire family.

Event-goers can participate harnessing their inner artist; children designing sidewalks and creating kites, while adults will mingle and mix during Drink + Draw at MCAD.

There will be chef demonstrations by James Beard semifinalist chef Brad Kilgore and his team-showcasing his culinary skills that have made BRAVA one of the top restaurants in Miami.
