Nextgen’s annual kickball tournament raises $6,000 for Chapman Partnership

Nextgen, a group of young professionals in Miami, hosted its eighth annual kickball tournament on Saturday, Mar. 17, at Coconut Grove’s Peacock Park, raising $6,000 in support of Chapman Partnership, an organization operating two homeless assistance centers in Downtown Miami and Homestead.

Nextgen is committed to effecting change in the community by working to bring awareness, revenue and advocacy for Chapman Partnership while supporting the organization’s mission to guide the homeless to self-sufficiency.

A total of 100 participants registered for the tournament, making up eight teams which contributed to the successful fundraiser benefiting Chapman Partnership residents. The Green Team won the event, ironically on St. Patrick’s Day.

Attendees enjoyed drinks and an after party sponsored by Taurus Beer & Whisk(e)y House, where 10 percent of sales were donated to Chapman Partnership. The tournament was generously sponsored by Cushman & Wakefield, Brickman, FIBA, Rennert Vogel Mandler & Rodriguez PA, Waka, Taurus, The Big Cheese, and WQAM.

Serving approximately 5,000 homeless residents annually, Chapman Partnership provides a comprehensive support program with services including emergency housing, meals, health, dental, psychiatric care, day care, job training, job placement, and assistance with securing stable housing.

Since 1995, Chapman Partnership has had more than 108,000 admissions including 22,000 children in Miami-Dade County and a 64 percent success rate of moving homeless men, women and families to self-sufficiency. Chapman Partnership operates two Homeless Assistance Centers with 800 beds located in Miami and Homestead. Chapman Partnership is the private sector partner of the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust.
