Parent to Parent of Miami will host its 10th annual Journey of Dreams benefit on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 22, at the JW Marriott, 1109 Brickell Ave.
Guests will enjoy a night of cocktails, hors d’ oeuvres, dining, dancing and an amazing silent auction aimed at generating additional funds to provide much-needed hope, help and support for children with disabilities and their families. This year’s event will be emceed by Ileana Varela, associate director of marketing and public relations at Florida International University’s (FIU) Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine as well as a former news anchor for CBS4 Miami.
Journey of Dreams honors key members of the community who have dedicated their vision and leadership to improving the lives of children and adults with disabilities.
This year’s honorees are Laverne O. Pinkney, director of Family and Education Law Clinic at FIU, recipient of the IMPACT award, and Dr. Silvia B. Fajardo- Hiriart and Dr. Martin S. Hiriart, recipients of the Excellence in Family Advocacy award.
The honorees have inspired, engaged, and advocated for children and adults with disabilities and sustain the hopes of families by working diligently to help transform their dreams into a reality. Parent to
Parent of Miami is a community parent resource center for families of children and adults with disabilities from birth through a lifetime. The organization provides access to information, resources and support to empower the families of more than 37,000 children with disabilities in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
