Riviera Preparatory School recently broke ground on an approximate 27,000-squarefoot addition that will be completed prior to the start of the 2015-16 school year.
The addition includes a combined auditorium and cafeteria, with a full-service kitchen offering students an array of dining choices, an expanded dance studio, library/media center, multi-use meeting rooms, and offices.
This phase was included in the original design of the building, which first opened to students for the 2011-12 school year.
“Now we’ve reached the point when the student body will benefit as a result of the additional facilities,” said Peter Cohen, associate director of
Riviera Schools. “Our performing arts department is enthusiastically looking forward to all that the new facility affords it,” Cohen added.
The auditorium will boast a fully equipped stage with professional lighting and sound systems that will become the gathering spot for all of Riviera Prep’s special functions, celebrations, and many performances throughout the school year.
Given the continued evolution and integration of technology, including tablets in every student’s hands, the Library/Media Center also serves as a technology hub for the collaboration of independent work and research.
Riviera’s dance program has grown tremendously in the past four years and has experienced much success; the new dance studio will allow it to continue down this path.
