Royal Caribbean volunteers give local elementary school upgrade

Royal Caribbean volunteers give local elementary school upgradeMore than 1,500 volunteers from Miami-based Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. descended upon Little Haiti’s Jesse J. McCrary Jr. Elementary School on Apr. 28 to breathe new life into the nearly 100-year-old school during the company’s annual GIVE Day. Part of a five-school commitment to Miami-Dade Public Schools, the school received enhancements valued at $1 million including: repainting the school with 30,000-plus gallons of paint, building an urban canopy by planting over 300 trees to further mitigate noise and CO2, and repainting of school murals. Presenting a check to Miami-Dade Public Schools superintendent Alberto Carvalho is Richard Fain, chair and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.
