Urban Promise Miami to sponsor ‘Family Football Day’ on Apr. 21

Urban Promise Miami serves at-risk youth by providing a space for dreaming, growth and leadership. Urban Promise has a high school graduation rate of 100 percent as opposed to Little Havana’s 39.6 percent.

The program extends learning beyond academics by providing counseling programs, physical activity and opportunities for teen employment. Urban Promise is a safe and supportive environment to equip Miami’s inner-city children and young adults with necessary skills to attain success.

Urban Promise Miami will be sponsoring a “Family Football Day” at Riverside Park, 799 SW Fourth St., on Apr. 21 to promote community health and engagement. From 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. the event will be hosted by Pittsburgh Steeler Cortez Allen and six other NFL players.

The day will include a free football camp, bounce house, and Zumba classes for the entire community.

During the event Urban Promise will conduct a raffle for a chance to win signed football gear. It also will be providing tours of the site with chances for the community to meet the youth of this organization.

Founded in 2010 by Dr. Ana Ojeda and Kristy Nunez, Urban Promise Miami is a non-profit organization committed to serving youth living in under-resourced communities in Miami-Dade County. Through after-school, summer camp, and other supplemental programs, Urban Promise Miami provides children with a safe and structured family-like environment that affords them the opportunity to grow academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
