Winn-Dixie invests in youth, donates to Boys & Girls Clubs

As part of the grand opening celebration of its seventh state-of-the-art transformational store on Coral Way in Miami, Winn-Dixie recently made a $1,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade.

With the goal of inspiring and enabling young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade will use the contribution to help further the mission.

“Winn-Dixie is at the heart of this community,” said Eliu Cubas, Winn-Dixie store director. “This investment in the youth of our area is just one of many ways we celebrate and support the neighborhood.”

Founded in 1860, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade is part of a national organization with programs that focus on character development, leadership training and life skills.  Through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade, the children in the community have a place where they can attend after-school and summer programs for studying, sports, mentoring and organized activities.

“We are extremely grateful for Winn-Dixie’s commitment to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade,” said Alex Rodriguez-Roig, executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade. “It is because of partners like Winn-Dixie that we can continue to provide quality programs in the community. We are looking forward to a long lasting relationship.”
