Women’s Fund to honor those who power our community

The Women’s Fund Miami-Dade has announced Marie Claire of the Hearst Corporation and Italian designer handbag V73 as the presenting partners for the 2014 Power of the Purse Luncheon.

Emmy award-winning journalist and South Florida native, Jackie Nespral will be the emcee at this signature event scheduled for May 14 at the Hilton Miami Downtown.

The Power of the Purse Luncheon program spotlights how The Women’s Fund energizes the community to create change for thousands of women and girls throughout Miami-Dade County.

“The mission of The Women’s Fund is in synergy with Marie Claire’s vision for a future where women and girls have equal access,” said Anne Fulenwider, Marie Claire editor in chief. “We embrace partnerships which create real impact in diverse communities like Miami. This is only the beginning.”

Marty Davis, chair; Phillis Oeters, honorary chair, and Cyndi Hibnick, silent auction chair, welcome luncheon guests to a red carpet entrance, an over-the-top silent auction, and a sophisticated menu.

Fashion and style will be accessible at the click of a button, with the V73 handbag, generously underwritten, as the centerpiece at all the tables available for bidding.

“The Women’s Fund represents economic power and leadership for women,” said Elisabetta Armellin, founder and creative director for V73. “Philanthropy is important to us — supporting and giving back to causes that elevate and empower women is at the heart of what we do.”

The program will include an inspiring testimony from one of the grantee partners, and a Lifetime Achievement Award will begiven to Hispanic media giant, Cristina Saralegui. The organization will celebrate its Honor Roll — a group of unique and exemplary women whose contributions to The Women’s Fund merit special attention and gratitude. They are Thelma Gibson, Gail Mixer, and Marj Adler.

For an exceptional networking opportunity, the VIP reception will include a meet and greet with Fulenwider, Elisabetta Armellin, founder and creative director for V73; Cristina Saralegui, all of the honorees and other special surprise guests. Additional partners include Baptist Health South Florida, Macy’s, Tr3s, ALO Diamonds, Tri Mix Foundation, NBC6, and the Miami Herald.

Individual tickets start at $150. To attend the Power of the Purse Luncheon or for more information regarding corporate partnerships, call The Women’s Fund at 305-441-0506 or visit <www.womensfundmiami.org.
