Multiple Events Benefit Women’s Breast Initiative

With October marked nationwide as Breast Cancer Month, there was no shortage of local events promoting the Women’s Breast Health Initiative.

Among many: a “Real Men Wear Pink” fashion show at International Mall in Doral, orchestrated by the Doral Business Council Women’s Alliance Group Committee and chaired by Doral Vice Mayor Christi Fraga. Several of Doral’s finest were among those strutting their stuff during a fun-filled fashion show emceed by the very talented Jenny Love. After Doral’s finest strutted their stuff, International Mall manager Alein Cadalso was among a few men in pink surprised to be invited on stage and directed to walk the runway. A raffle was held during this event that was generously underwritten by the Mall and several inkind sponsors including WOW Wines, DiVieto, Starbucks and HSI Professional. In fact, women at the affair were invited to have their hair curled compliments of HSI Professional, a hair care product line that includes a great leave-in hair product that left everyone’s hair looking gorgeous. In addition, Nancy Concepcion of Victoria’s Collection provided beautiful assorted pink ear rings and pins for all who bought raffle tickets.

The Miami Women Who Rock held their inaugural “Fifty Shades of Pink” awards luncheon Oct. 23 at Coral Gables Country Club, a lovely affair also benefitting the WBHI. NBC Anchor Jackie Nespral emceed and helped honor 10 amazing and diverse Miami women for their community service while also raising charitable dollars for WBHI.

The Westchester Chamber invited the Doral Business Council and others to a WBHI event Oct. 28 at Victoria’s Collection at MACC that served as a networker and fundraiser. Among the many raffle items: a stay at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables, a basket from Team Concepts, restaurant gift certificates and many more. Hosting the affair was the always gracious Nancy Concepcion, owner of Victoria’s Collection, who knows how to throw a party to make people feel welcome. Another star of the evening was the Rev. Barbara Soliman who had people lined up all night for her LIVE Aura interpretation. Nancy Martinez, of Team Concepts, a member of both the Westchester Chamber and DBC, helped arrange the evening and donated one of the many prizes. Aside from Maria Martinez, dozens of folks from the Westchester Chamber were there including Jose Garrido as well as members of the Doral Business Council, all eager to support the charitable effort. *

Finally, Sunday mornings are always fun at Doral Farmer’s Market. From fresh vegetables to Martica’s flans, gourmet gelatos, arepas, oils, hats, jewelry and more, this is a great way to support entrepreneurs in our community. Many thanks to Danny Kaskell of Doral Properties, and his troops for giving Doral such a nice place for neighbors to congregate and support emerging businesses. Until next time, keep making each day count.
