Outback Steakhouse hosts Junior Orange Bowl social

Junior Orange Bowl members and volunteers recently met at Outback Steakhouse in South Miami for the last social of the summer.

Among the more than thirty volunteers and members gathered for great appetizers, drinks and fellowship were JOBC President Marti and Robert Bueso, Annie Goodrich, John Sorgie, Past President John and Pam Admire, Joey Deyerle, Enid Miguez, John Pallot, Sally Baumgartner, Marti Rosen, David and Linda Brown, and Micky Rauch, to mention a few.

During that affair, much of the talk centered around the myriad of JOBC activities that are almost upon us. In fact, the JOBC’s annual fundraiser with a theme of “Beach Blanket Bingo” and chaired this year by Cecilia Dubon Slesnick, will be held October 2, at Miami Rowing Club. Executive Director Mark Pidal noted that it is not too late to donate auction items or to become a sponsor for that event. The Blue, a new upscale all suite hotel in Doral, recently hosted a Donor Appreciation Reception and Auction for the Community Foundation of Pinecrest (CFP). Guests enjoyed an open bar, great hors d’oeuvres and an opportunity to bid on more than 45 auction items. Among the many helping make the event a success and enjoying the evening were Chairman, Steve Beiley; CFP Secretary, Pam Schaefer; CFP board members Pierre Apollon, Dan Scipione, Rick Tonkinson, Dan Heller, Jennifer Wollmann, and Luis Boue. Among the Pinecrest Village Council present were Vice Mayor Jeff Cutler; and Council members Nancy Harter, Bob Ross, and Joe Corradino. Volunteers that night were Jo Burke, Yolanda Woodbridge, Candy Hertsch, Dannaliz Segrera and Sandy Schaefer.

This reception hosted by The Blue is the first of many upcoming events for this newly created Foundation. In fact, CFP is presenting an “Estate Planning Check-Up” on Saturday, September 12, 1:15 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., at the Pinecrest Branch Library with featured speakers estate planning attorney, Dan Heller, of Heller Waldman; and Carol Nobles, Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist, of Young Stovall & Company. The public is invited. Admission is free.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami- Dade will hold their 12th Annual Bebe Rebozo Golf Tournament, presented by Carmen Rebozo Foundation on Monday, October 12, at La Gorce Country Club. Tournament registration at 11:00 a.m. Putting Contest at 12:00 p.m.

Shotgun start at 1:15 p.m. All golfers receive a gift bag, complimentary parking, green fees, cart, range balls, box lunch, and oncourse beverages, and will enjoy gourmet banquet and awards ceremony.

Crazy Pianos, a dueling piano bar and restaurant recently opened its first US location in Cocowalk. On Sunday, September 13, 2:00 – 7:00 p.m., the public is invited to Crazy Family Fun Day. During that time, Crazy Pianos will donate 20 percent of all food and beverage sales to Shake-A-Leg Miami and its various programs.
